The Elimination of Prejudice Committee is dedicated to fulfilling the mission of Pi Lambda Phi. Our operations fall broadly under three umbrellas - education, philanthropy, and service. We hope to accomplish social justice through philanthropy and service for organizations serving the underprivileged, as well as education both within the fraternity and on Drexel's campus to make our campus safer and more inclusive for all individuals. We are committed to ensuring that Pi Lambda Phi PA Delta Iota remains a place where all individuals, regardless of gender expression, sexual orientation, race, creed, or ability status will have a platform to enact real change.
During its first year, the Elimination of Prejudice committee of the PA Delta Iota Chapter of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity has had a few major accomplishments. The first of these was successfully hosting the Wall of Prejudice Event, which involved inviting members of the campus to write their experiences of prejudice on the wall, and then to come back and physically destroy the wall in order to have an outlet for their experiences. This also helped establish Pi Lambda Phi as a legitimate fraternity on campus and positively affected our reputation.
We also hosted our first Elimination of Prejudice movie night, which involved a showing of the film Zootopia, which has a lot of allusions to racism throughout. Following the showing of the film, we had a brief discussion on the message of the film, which functioned similarly to a typical Elimination of Prejudice session. This event allowed us to lay the framework for the way that we would manage public Elimination of Prejudice sessions, which are set to be implemented in Spring Term of 2018. In addition, throughout the year, we raised around $1700 for the Elimination of Prejudice Foundation as a result of fundraising during our various events.
